Southern Africa Partners SA NPC (SnAPSA) currently has a focus on four main areas community upliftment:
- Keeping young people in school so they can build a secure future for themselves
- Linking those in need to services in their communities so they can find support
- Building partnerships with other organisations in the communities where we work to encourage synergy in service delivery and prevent duplication of activities
- Working with young people to build their capacity to take on the challenges of living and making a living, and keeping away from harmful substances.
Our first project is underway: Education, the foundation of development of a country, is being supported to reduce scholar “disengagement” from school through the Keeping Kidz in School (KKiDZS ) Project. KKiDZS is adapted to suit our country’s needs from the “Check and Connect” project developed by Minnesota University that has been successfully implemented in schools across the United States of America.
Was registered on Friday, 24th May 2019 and has as its objectives:
To promote social change through developing people and strengthening systems through innovative and sustainable solutions.
To empower individuals, communities and organisations by developing their capacity and resilience to effectively address human rights, social justice, socio-economic, education and health issues.

We are a fledgling Organisation that is working to become a leader in the social development networks of Southern Africa, helping communities and organisation to grow to their full potential.
The principle of maintaining a local indigenous structure in each country is seen as a way of ensuring sustainability and also of transferring skills and knowledge. It will also support not doing something “for the people without the people” being involved in the planning and scale up.

SnAPSA believes in the human rights of all people. We respond to needs through collaboration and building capacity and expertise within communities.
We have commenced our first project focusing on schools in the Alexandra, a township next to Sandton, Johannesburg.
Alexandra is the oldest South African township, having started as a small enclave in 1912 and eventually developing into one of the most vibrant communities in South Africa with a population of over 500 000. The area has always had a high unemployment rate amongst the working age group. This further aggravates the poverty issues in Alexandra and leaves many households in a dire position of not being able to provide for their most basic needs. This leads to the dropout of school children to “fend for themselves and help their parents survive”.
SnAPSA is identifying more special projects. We are also working hard to fundraise independently so that we will be able to have sufficient funds to focus on the REAL NEEDS of communities and operate effectively.
Currently, we will only work in the Johannesburg area of South Africa, to get our model operational and build our programmes. Our ultimate aim is for Southern Africa Partners SA (SnAPSA) to cross borders into Southern Africa and grow capacity of the local communities. Africa’s challenges are not isolated to one country, but spread across borders. SnAPSA will create entities in countries to successfully implement this task. The long term 10-year plan is to grow the organisation into a Southern African development organisation.
Southern Africa Partners SA NPC was established in 2019, after it’s “parent” organisation (South Africa Partners, Inc), based in Boston, USA, took a decision to create an indigenous South African organisation to potentially take over operational activities. This decision took a lot of planning and discussion to determine the type of organisation that needed to be established. The SA Partners Board wanted the local organisation to be able to continue with the work of SA Partners in country and across Southern Africa borders. The Board agreed that the SA Partners country office would work to establish an indigenous organisation. To carry on the great tradition of South Africa Partners in Southern Africa. Growing out of the anti-apartheid movement South Africa Partners was founded in 1997 in Boston USA, as a non-profit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to the development of partnerships between the United States and South Africa in the areas of health, education, and economic development. Building upon the efforts of tens of thousands of individuals across the United States who supported the international movement for democracy in South Africa, SA Partners wanted to support and promote equitable and sustainable development in South Africa, while building bridges between the two countries.
